News LOL Game Ninjas in Pyjamas join EU LCS: Riot Contract Database

NInjas in Pyjamas have purchased a spot in the EU LCS, according to Riot Games' official LoL Esports League-Recognized Contract Database.

The move, first reported by ESPN's Jacob Wolf based on anonymous sources, means that NiP reached an agreement with Fnatic for the sale of their Fnatic Academy spot. May 23 is the roster lock deadline for EU LCS organizations.

The roster as listed in the database features top laner Kim "Profit" Jun-hyung, jungler Ilyas "Shook" Hartsema, mid laner Kim "Nagne" Sang-moon, AD carry Martin "HeaQ" Kordmaa and support Hampus "sprattel" Mikael Abrahamsson.

Profit played nine games for SKT Telecom T1 as their top lane substitute and had a 7-2 record in the spring regular season. Nagne is a competitive veteran, perhaps best known for his multiple splits with KT Rolster, while Shook has played with a number of different EU organizations during his career but spent his most recent splits with Vitality.

Also listed, likely as substitutes, are top laner Benjamin "Zhergoth" Sánchez and Kwon "Hoon" Noh Hoon.

LCS rules mandate that an organization can own only a single spot in the esport's highest levels of competition, and the Fnatic Academy squad earned a promotion to the LCS with a 3-0 win over Giants Gaming at the 2017 EU LCS Summer Promotion tournament.

On May 19, German esports organization Mysterious Monkeys, owned by ad hoc gaming GmbH, announced that they had purchased the other EU LCS spot, which was held by Misfits Academy.
